San Franciscans are marking the 34th anniversary of the assassinations of Mayor George Mosone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.

It was entirely appropriate that U.S. District Court Judge Richard Seeborg ruled, on that tragic anniversary, to uphold the ordinance passed in 2007 that requires handgun owners to keep their weapons locked when stored at home. And, it’s even more significant that San Francisco can ban bullets that expand or splinter on contact. No doubt the NRA will challenge the ruling, taking it to the Supreme Court. The issue of guns and gun violence will continue to be an issue in the days ahead.
