Do you remember John London? Anyone in San Francisco and Los Angeles who ever tuned in to his radio show would have a hard time forgetting him. He is one of the funniest, most creative people to have ever been on the radio. This video, recorded over a year ago, was sent to me recently by a friend and former co-worker; we worked with John at 1069 Free FM - a talks station - in San Francisco. John was only on the station for about seven months, but what he did on the radio then still influences my on-air and programming sensibilities.
He was fired by the company, moved to Austin, and started doing a syndicated talk show. I tried to listen to it, but something was just off about it. It was not on for very long.
This interview shocked and enlightened me as a colleague and a fan as he speaks about his life. But even if you've never heard or even heard of John London, this is riveting; and it's just two guys sitting across from each other talking calmly for almost an hour. His life was a mix of spotlight and seediness one might expect from a David Lynch movie.
You should watch it.
